About Us

Design Philosophy

At 1997 Design, we believe and wish for a perfect world—where peace is constant, flowers bloom everywhere and the right to be, is never questioned. It’s a gentle, rose tinted vision of reality that we hold close to our hearts. We believe that dreams are powerful, and with enough love and detail, they do become reality.

Our design philosophy celebrates the strength in softness, and embraces the power of quiet strength. We believe in a softness that is paved by meticulous perseverance. Every collection reflects this through our romantic palette, thoughtful silhouettes and almost meditative attention to detail.
Surface ornamentation is our language, an ode to intricacies that define not just our garments, but also the lives of women who wear them.

We are deeply inspired by the feminine spirit—resilient yet tender, graceful yet grounded. Women often tend to the unseen details of everyday life, the microscopic, and the quietly transformative, finding grace in the details others might overlook

Our work is a celebration of these unnoticed contributions, where
every thread, every bloom, and every stitch is deliberate - a reflection of the quiet power that defines both our craft and women we design for.

We Care

At 1997 Design, sustainability is a quiet promise. We choose natural, biodegradable materials, believing that what we create should eventually return to the earth, as gently as it came from it.

Our commitment to slow fashion means we produce in small batches, always on a made-to-order to basis, to reduce waste and honor the resources we use.

We breathe life into old materials, through ongoing recycling projects, finding beauty in the overlooked and forgotten. For us, sustainability is not a trend; it is a responsibility and the need of the hour.

Why 1997?

1997 is more than a year, it’s the beginning, a turning point. It's when
the idea of becoming designer, first sparked in my mind. A quiet realization that would quietly shape the course of my life. At 16, I discovered the creativity, the freedom to dream and the limitless possibilities of design. It felt like finding my wings, a moment where the world expanded and everything seemed possible.

Since then, this world of design, has become my refuge, a place where I can break free from the constraints of convention, where imagination has no limits and where beauty is defined by intention, care and quiet power. It’s a world where I can breathe and express myself without any boundaries.

1997 was the year my world expanded. That spark Led, me to NIFT, where I studied Fashion and Technology for 3 and a half years, diving deep into craft and a discipline of design.

From there, I found myself in the studios of inspiring designers and export houses like Shades of India and Sirali, each experience adding layers of texture to my creative journey.

I launched 1997 Design when I hopped into my own world, where softness is a form of strength and where details speak louder than volume. I’ve had the honor of presenting my work at Amara, Ogaan, and exhibiting at prestigious shows like IMC and Design One.

But this journey is far from over. I am still creating, still dreaming, and still stitching my way toward the future I imagine. I am building my world stitch by stitch, honoring sustainability and strong Indian craft along the way, and finding joy in every detail.

1997 Design is my way of sharing this world—a place where the rules are mine to set, the colors are mine to choose, and each garment tells a story of poetic detail.

1997 is my quiet rebellion, my way of whispering my dreams into the fabric of the world, and the story is just beginning.
